2009 Opens the season
for continuing workshops and seminars in all areas of the television and
feature film industry. Each session will be conducted by professionals in their
specific fields and all members will be educated and work hands on in those
elements. Groups will be conducted at H&A’s studio in Reno, NV; and in
addition, those attending the workshops will be invited to production projects
that will be shooting at the facility. Workshops in a wide
variety of subjects are available for children, teens and adults.

From unifying theme to deep, detailed structure, students will learn
the specific building-blocks that go into mainstream Hollywood
screenplays. Students will also learn techniques for creating
unforgettable scenes and irresistible dialogue.
These are advanced techniques, so students should be familiar with the
fundamentals of storytelling and industry-standard formatting before
starting the class.

On the First night,
Each individual will learn and work hands on with Professional Production Gear including High Definition Camera's and Lights. They will learn basic techniques, practical use, and safety associated with the equipment. Student will also learn production development and what it takes to put together a television show and be given guidance on how to pursue a career in their desired field.
On the second night,
In
this part of the workshop, the skill of learning to choose the proper make-up for working
in film, video, television and print is featured along with the full
application. Many times in the industry
one doesn’t have the luxury of a make-up artist and the performer needs to have
the knowledge to handle their own application for the project. The approach in the workshop is to be able to
do a professional job and know each method and styles of applications. All
individuals in the workshop will work hands on in each area of face make-up.

Hammond – An award winning
producer with over forty years of experience in television and film.
Catherine Sweet - Catherine has been a professional make-up artist for
over fifteen years and owned her own studio in California. For the last seven years she has worked
locally for television productions, feature films, live theater and recently
industrial projects for the State of Nevada. Her years as a professional still
photographer branched into the make-up profession.

The
purpose of the workshop is to familiarize the individual in current techniques,
equipment and procedures used in the motion picture and television industry.
The class will focus on equipment - becoming familiar with the different brands,
models and uses of the current tools that are in use today, focusing on three
departments: Cameras, Lighting, and Grip. It will also focus on application- how
to properly and safely use these tools and achieve good results. The instructor
will also share inside information
regarding how to secure a job in student’s chosen fields.

Radio Theater Workshop

An intensive 8-hour radio
production course conducted over a two-day period in which the group will learn
what went into producing radio programs during the so-called “Golden Days of
Radio,” including sound-effects, music and voice-acting. The group will gain hands-on experience in
this creative media field by re-creating an actual radio script and will
receive a CD-ROM copy of the final product at the conclusion of the workshop. This form of entertainment is now making a
comeback thanks to Internet and the programming that is needed for all the new
distribution outlets.
The instructor:
Sheldon I. Altfeld - A twelve-time Emmy Award-nominee and four-time Emmy
Award winner. Altfeld created The Silent Network, a national cable network
dedicated to programming for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, which grew
from 2 million households into 17 million within ten years.
Sheldon has produced, written
and/or directed more that 3,900 TV shows, over 5,000 hours of radio programming
and 200 stage productions.

Musical Theater Workshop

The workshop is effective in
the art of working on music and dance for live performance and also helps
actors with body movement and presentation.
This is a 12-week program and highlights the ability to transform body
movement and sound to present and interpret a musical piece. A showcase will be
presented at the close of each 12-week workshop.

Chrissy
Fastabend has been a professional teacher for more than 15-years.
Chrissy graduated Sherry Gold Dance Company and from Dean College of Boston,
where she had leading roles in Dean’s Dance Company. Later she toured in Europe, Alaska, Caribbean
and performed in more than 25 reviews including “Legends in Concert” in Russia.

The Timing Workshop

This
is an intensive study of the use of timing for public speakers, performers (special
attention to comedy) and TV & Film media. The instructor, Marsh Brodeur is
the author of “Timing Unmasked,” a book designed specifically to the art of
using timing in everyday situations and in professional performances. Each
member will receive the book which is covered by your fee for the workshop.
The instructor: Marsh Brodeur - An International
Award winning composer/scorer for film and television and professional jazz
vocalist, music director for theater and dialogue coach. Marsh has won a Telly Award, Worldfest
International award and has been an instructor at UNR.
This is an on going workshop through out the year, every eight weeks
The art of working in front
of a camera for feature film or television is worked through, voice, body movement,
facial expression, make-up, script presentation, cold readings, auditions,
improv exercises, characterization and professional presentation. The advanced
group is a professional acting troupe, “The Cutting Edge,” which performs live
presentations (recently at The Silver Legacy Hotel), Training video’s for the
State of Nevada, television sitcoms and music videos.

coached acting for more than forty years, worked with Disney Studios,
Universal, Warner Bros., NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS-TV, produced live programming for
professional theater, radio and feature films. Temma has taught for WNC and
TMCC.

The Art Club
Mondays 2PM - 4PM (Monthly Class)
This is an on going workshop through out the year, every eight weeks
This workshop will be open to
both veteran and beginning artists. Students will experience different media’s
including paint, metals, chalk, photos and different artistic crafts. The group
will travel to different locations depending on the media being studied. In-house
projects will be at the H&A Production studio in Reno.
The Instructor:
Deana
Hoover will lead the group, but there will also be professional guest
instructors in their fields. Deana is a
professional artist and writer who also is the head of her own publishing
company, Box Sled Publishing.
